History & Overview Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC (Yahsat) is a private joint stock company fully owned by Mubadala, an investment arm of the Government of Abu Dhabi. Since being incorporated in 2007, it has designed the region’s first hybrid satellite system, based on extensive interaction with customers and research into their communication needs. The company's first satellite, Yahsat 1A, will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2010 at 52.5 degrees East. Yahsat 1B will follow in the first half of 2011. The satellite control will be operated from the company's gateway in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Yahsat has binding contracts with the Emirates govenment and military forces that have taken a major capacity in bith satellites. The Yahsat satellites will fulfil the satellite communication requirements of both government and commercial customers in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and South West Asia. The system is designed to accommodate the trends of emerging applications in the satellite industry like HDTV and other broadband satellite services. |
