AMC-21 ישוגר ביום שישי, ה 14 באוגוסט

טיל Ariane 5 ישגר את הלווין התקשורת AMC-21 עבור חברת הלווינים האמריקאית SES Americom ממרכז השיגורים בקורו שבגויאנה הצרפתית ביום שישי , ה 14 באוגוסט . הלווין הוא מתוצרת חברת Thales Alenia Space והוא מבוסס על פלטפורמה מדגם STAR-2 של חברת Orbital , ארה"ב
הלווין יוצב ב 125 מעלות מערב ויצטרף ל 16 לוויני תתקשורת נוספים הפועלים בשירות חברת SES Americom מעל ארהב"ב, אסיה ואירופה .
הלווין כולל 24 משיבים ב Ku-band וישמש להצפת שידורי טלוויזיה לארצות הברית, אלסקה והוואי , מפרץ מכסיקו, האיים הקריביים ומדינות מרכז אמריקה. עצמת השידור המיברית של פלטפורמת ה STAR-2 עומדת על 4.4 קילוואט ותוחלת החיים שלה היא 15 שנה.

יחד עם AMC-21 ישוגר לווין התקשורת היפני Superbird 7.

AMC-21 to Launch August 14

An Ariane 5 rocket is scheduled to lift the SES Americom AMC-21 communications satellite into orbit from the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. Orbital is supplying its STAR-2 spacecraft bus under a contract with Thales Alenia Space.

Operating from the 125 degree West Longitude orbital location, AMC-21 will supplement SES Americom’s fleet of 16 satellites over the United States, Asia and Europe. The satellite will carry 24 high-powered Ku-band channels, and provide fixed communications and television distribution services over the continental U.S., Alaska, and Hawaii, and the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean and Central American regions. The STAR-2 platform will deliver 4.4 kilowatts of payload power and support a 15-year on-orbit mission life.

AMC-21 will be launched together with Superbird 7, a new Japanese telecommunications satellite.
