שוק האינטרנט הלוויני בפס רחב למטוסים מתעורר מחדש

היקף שוק שירותי הפס הרחב בתעופה האזרחית המסחרית בשנת 2012 צפוי להגיע ל 936 מליון דולרים. כך, על פי מחקר ותחזית חדשה שמפרסמת חברת MultiMedia Intelligence. לדברי המחברים, למרות המצוקה בה שרויה תעשיית התעופה עולמית , חברות תעופה ממשיכות להשקיע במערכות בידור חדשות למטוסים בשל הפוטנציאל הגלום בהן מבחינת הכנסות נוספות . ב MultiMedia Intelligence צופים שעם השקת שירותים כאלה בתשלום במהלך השנה הנוכחית, תחילה באופו ניסיוני , שוק הפס הרחב בתחום התעופה יניב הכנסות בסך 6.6 מליון דולרים כבר במהלך השנה הנוכחית 2008. 

שוק הפס הרחב בתעופה נכנס כעת לעידן חדש . מאז שחברת Boeing סגרה את שירות Connexion לפני מספר שנים, היה שוק זה נטול פעילות. עם זאת, במהלך ההפוגה שנוצרה, הוחל בהכנות להשיק יוזמות שונות בתחום זה וחברות מובילות מתכוננות להשיק שירותים כאלה ללקוחותיהן.

In-Flight Broadband serviced are coming back

The market for in-flight broadband services is poised to grow to $936 million in 2012, according to recent research by MultiMedia Intelligence. Despite industry plight, airlines are continuing to invest in new entertainment services due to their potential for additional revenue generation. MultiMedia Intelligence (MMI) anticipates that given a projected 2H 2008 launch of revenue service (initially trials, with full launches ensuing), the in-flight broadband market will debut and generate $6.6 million worldwide in passenger revenues in 2008.


In-flight broadband is entering a new era. Since Boeing ended Connexion several years ago, in-flight broadband has seemingly been void of activity. However, during this lull, several initiatives to re-launch in-flight broadband have been underway, as industry players prepare to launch in-flight service
