2008 - שנת מפנה בשידורים בהפרדה גבוהה באסיה

החברות המובילות המפעילות חבילות ערוצים בתשלום בדרום מזרח אסיה, המזרח התיכון ואפריקה יכללו כ 340 ערוצים בהפרדה גבוהה עד שנת 2013. זאת, בהשוואה ל 32 ערוצים כיום, על פי תחזית חדשה שכורתתה Survey on High Definition Television in Asia שמפיצה חברת Euroconsult ואשר הוזמנה על ידי חברת הלווינים המלזית Measat.

עד סוף השנה הנוכחי, כ 70% מכלל 25 החבילות שנבדקו, מתוכן 21 באסיה צפויות להציע תכנים בפורמט החדש  . על י הדו"ח, כיום רק כ 12% מהספקים מציעים תכנים בהפרדה גבוהה

ב Euroconsult אומרים שהתוצאות שהתקבלו מאששות את הדיווחים שהמצביעים על כך, ששנת 2008 "היא שנת הכרעה ומפה להשקת שידורים בהפרדה גבוהה מחוץ לארצות הברית ואירופה ".

מחברי הדו"ח אומרים, שמפעילי חבילות ערוצים באסיה סבורים, שהוספת תכנים בהפרדה גבוהה תתרום לעליה בהכנסותיהם. 

מספר הערוצים בהפרדה גבוהה צפוי להגיע ל 107 באמצע שנת 2009, ל 226 בשנת 2011 ול 341 בשנת 2013.במהלך שלוש עד חמש השנים הבאות יתרחב היצע הערוצים בפורמט זה משלושה ועד חמישה כיום לחמישה עשר בממוצע.

2008 - Turning Point for HDTV Asia & Africa

Major pay-TV operators in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa expect to carry more than 340 HD television channels by 2013, up from 32 channels currently, according to a new Euroconsult report commissioned by Malaysian satellite operator Measat.

By the end of the year, 70 percent of the 25 platforms surveyed - including 21 in Asia - expect to be offering HD content, the report, A Survey on High Definition Television in Asia, found.

According to the report, 12 percent currently offer HD services.

Euroconsult said the survey confirmed market reports showing 2008 "as the pivotal year for HDTV launches outside of North America and Europe."

Asian operators believe HD will increase revenue, according to survey director Stefane Chenard.

The number of HD channels being offered by the platforms is forecast to reach 107 by mid-2009, 226 in 2011, and 341 in 2013.Over the next three to five years, HD will expand from between three and five channels to an average of 15 channels.

Pay-TV operators told Euroconsult that the biggest block to HD progress at the moment was the lack of content .
