חברת הלווינים האירופית SES Astra מתכננת להציע שירותי אינטרנט לוויני ביחד עם ספקיות אינטרנט מקומיות המועניינות לחבר תושבים בישובים קטנים המרוחקים מריכוזי אוכלוסיה בפולין .בחברה טוענים שבפולין יש כשני מליון בתי אב שאינם יכולים לקבל חיבור קווי לאינטרנט בשל בעיות תשתית

לדברי Astra השירות שהיא תציע בפולין יהיה לא רק מהיר יותר מהאינטרנט בו משתמשים כיום תושבי אזורים כאלה אלא גם זול ב 60% . החברה מתכוונת להציע שלוש חבילות גלישה עם קצב נתונים יורד שינוע בין 256kbps ל 1024kbps וקצב עולה של עד 128kbps . מחיר השירות ינוע בין 20 ל 40 יורו בחודש ובחברה מקווים לשווק בין 200,000 ל 300,000 חיבורי כאלה בפולין

SES Astra to offer satellite internet in Poland SES Astra hopes to start selling internet access in cooperation with operators who wish to add customers who live in low population and infrastructure density . The company says there are about two million Polish households with no access to the fixed-line infrastructure . According to Astra, the neew service offer will not only be faster than those using older technologies but also around 60% cheaper. The company intends to offer three service packages with data download speeds of 256kbps to 1024kbps and upload speeds of up to 128kbps. The service will be competitively priced at 20 to 40 Euro a month. The operator claims this offer has a chance of winning 200,000-300,000 customers.
