Inmarsat דחתה את שיגור הלווין הבא

חברת התקשורת הניידת הלווינית Inmarsat הודיעה על דחייה של מועד השיגור של לווין התקשורת הבא שלה Inmarsat-4. זאת, בעקבות כשלון השיגור של לווין התקשורת האמריקאי AMC-14 שבוצע באמצעות חברת ILS - International Launch Services על ידי טיל Proton . הלווין שכשל היה מתוצרת Lockheed Martin ויוצר עובר חברת הלווינים האמריקאית SES Americom שנועד ברובו עובר חבילת הלווין הצפון אמריקאית DISH של Echostar Inc.עם כיסוי לצפון אמריקה

כשלון השיגור של AMC-14 נובע מכשל בשלב הבעירה השני של השלב העליון בטיל ב Breeze M . בעקבות הכשלון הודיעה Inmarsat על דחיה במועד העברת Inmarsat-4 לאתר השיגור . מועד שיגור חדש ייקבע במהלך חודש אפריל והוא כפוף לתוצאות ועדת הבדיקה במונתה לחקור את הסיבות לכשלון השיגור האחרון .

Inmarsat plc announces postponement of planned satellite launch On Saturday 15 March Inmarsat (LSE: ISAT.L) was informed that a Proton Breeze M rocket carrying the satellite of another operator, suffered an anomaly resulting in the failure of the mission. In view of this news Inmarsat has suspended plans to ship the third Inmarsat-4 satellite to the launch site.  Inmarsat expects the launch scheduled for late April to be postponed pending an investigation of the launch failure by International Launch Services and the Russian State Commission.
